Made me illegal for the line check (8 in 24), so they bumped me off that. Of course, they had already bumped the original Capt, and went though 2 more Capts to finally fill the trip. Also, the LCA was still on the trip, so I imagine that someone got a no-notice out of the deal. I wonder how much it actually cost to operate that trip?
This is one of the problems with the "optimizer/sodomizer" - no room for friction... and there's a LOT of friction in the system. Eventually they (the bean counters) will figure out that "optimization" can wind up costing a lot more than allowing the slack. Sometimes they're not real quick on the uptake and need to have things pointed out to them. (In language they understand. $o to $peak.) |

If you think that the bean counters (or crew schedulers for that matter) will loose one minutes sleep over how much it "cost" to operate that trip, you've got another think coming. The salaries paid to operate a full (of freight) jet is almost nothing at all. It almost doesn't even factor into the net profit for the trip because it's such a small amount. So 3 times (almost) nothing is still about nothing. It's sad but true.

Gee and all this time I thought we were going to destroy all of the profits by asking for a raise! :D :D :D |

Exactly. This should also exemplify how much the company is willing to pay to get freight to move. Think about this next time during negotiations.

There's at least one ACP who thinks that you should not have called in sick. Sick is only for when, you the pilot, is sick. At least that's what he said in his email.

It goes beyond that Overnite......If you have a chronic ailment brought on by this job or not, you have a Doc's apt. with a specialist(you know how hard to get one with a good doc is) and you don't get your bid award to go to said Doc appt....should you call in sick? More than one ACP and a CP don't think so..........Lock step. Hut Hut. Make no mistake...DM had to get approval to sent that mass E-mail...who do you think approved it. |
