Default iCHAT

Does anybody use the video on iCHAT for their MAC while in Europe or do most guys use Skype. For the mac guys, I do have a .Mac account if that helps. Any info on what works overseas would be appreciated. Also any camera info for macs would be great. My iBook does not have it built in so I need an add-on camera. Thanks for the help.

I have an iBook that was made before the built in iSight. I own the iSight. It is a small tube and it works amazingly. I think it cost $129 about 2 years ago, but that should be coming down now that mac builds them into their computers.

iChat is as good as AIM or any other instant messanging service, except you can video and audio chat from anywhere as long as you are connected to the internet.
I own one, and I highly recommend using it. Nothing like people being able to see your face when you are talking. Both people do not need iSight's. You could have one person on iSight and audio chat, and the other person can see you and still use the audio chat.

Talk to Pierre in Flyco. He's the resident Mac guru for Paris. I flew with a captain (HW, I think) who was using it on his SIBA trip to call mama.

Default Audio iChat

I have a 4 year old PowerBook and use audio iChat to talk with Mom and the kids back home. We have a mac at home. My son has tried to audio chat with friends who use PC's without much luck. As a previous poster said, all you need is an internet connection. It's simple and free...what a concept.
A guy I flew with recently had a new MacBook with the built in camera and his girlfriend had one, also....you can probably figure out the rest of the story.

I have an older iBook with the $129 iSight camera also. Don't think I'd want to hassle with a cheaper, non-Mac camera since the iSight works so well.
I like the TV-quality video of the iChat when talking to another Mac user, but the new Mac version of Video Skype works OK when going from my Mac to a Windows machine. The Skype Mac and Windows software are free downloads at Skype.com.
