Amazon's new livery revealed

Seems the average is closer to 5500 hours and low 30s from all the stats I've seen here. I know many many guys over 40 and over 10k hours who haven't heard a peep despite multiple job fairs, recs and having had their apps in for many years. Similar to stories you read here about regional capts that can't get hired while their FO gets hired right after applying.

Your stats may be the average, but I stand by my statement that 40 - 50 year olds are getting hired. Personal friends JS and TH are over 50 and late 40's and were hired at FedEx this year. BB and JT were hired by American and United. Again both mid to late 40's. All have over 10k hours.

Don't read too much into Dan's posts. He was fired from DHL Airways a long long time ago and doesn't really have any idea of how things are now. Plenty of 40 to 50 year old 10,000 hour pilots being picked up by FedEx, UPS, United, and American right now. No shelf life problems being old and experienced as long as you aren't old AND bitter. It's mostly the attitude that sinks applicants (true for both old and young, BTW).
And the last time I checked, the range on a drone is less than on a 767, so I wouldn't worry about pilot's jobs being taken over by them. Personally, if I had a $2000 MacBook Air being delivered, I wouldn't want it flying on some delivery toy through the weather over other peoples houses.

As for drone comment, I was taking liberties in hyperbole there to reinforce Dan's spot on commentary on ACMI contracts. Where did you get me being concerned about drones taking over piloted aircraft ? Those mini-drones would take place of delivery van drivers, not B767 type aircraft. Whether or not that part happens to the degree that Mr. Bezos would like is a whole other topic.

This is so true Im afraid. Im currently in a "good" corporate job but am in the same boat. Mid 40's, over 10,000TT, multiple types and many ocean crossings but crickets from any major or airline. Its funny because UAL told me back in my 20's to "go and get more experience and Total Time then come back to us". Crickets now! The interesting thing is my family and QOL are more important now than any airline so things tend to work out for the best in the long run. Just my $.02 cents to all you "young guys" out there. Have fun!

^^When is the last time you went to a job fair? I had two friends get hired with the majors within the last 12 months. (UA and Alaska). Both did not hear a thing until they went to a couple of job fairs-even thought they consistently updated their profiles. Sometimes that can be the trigger. Including Atlas.
