DUDE! That is NOT GOOD!
That job description is for the folks that service the lavs - you "support" the blue juice!Just kidding! I wouldn't believe anything you see until you are sitting in class, with your a/c binder in front of you, and even then, that could change. Just ask some of the folks that are in class right now - pulled out of class and immediately sent to another fleet. When on probation, you just don't know what will happen. Enjoy the ride!

ONT reserve is mostly 15 on 13 off. There are a few week on, week off, reserve lines. Once they get the proper number of F/O's (maybe that's an impossible dream), I don't think reserve will be all that bad. I'm on the Capts A side and have worked 3 out of 15, so far. I'm sacrificing two or three days a month away from home, plus having to find a place to stay, but I think it's well worth it compared to flying a bad line. I guess I'm kinda lazy, but I only found 6 or 7 lines worth bidding last time and couldn't hold any of them.
A reserve seems to be the best staffed and the least used but many guys don't like the possibility of an early morning call. Personally, I'd rather risk that than have to do more flying, like the C's and B's. Plus, I like the idea of sleeping through much of your on call period.
I think reserve is the most likely junior assignment for a new guy. I can't see being stuck with it for more than a year, if you don't like it.

The great thing about bidding at UPS is that everyone has different things they want. For example, de727 says that he only liked a few of the lines and bids reserve. I would rather fly the crappiest line we have then sit reserve. Even if you get a crappy line, you can trade with open time. The open time trips might not be the best but there are opeitons. There is a lot of open time to swap with right now so I have yet to be unhappy. Dugan, I don't think you will have to be on reserve too long (unless you want to be) in ONT as long as the movement continues.
