CVG was a full on hub for Delta at one time. And don't forget at the same time Comair operated that 50 gate commuter C concourse.
And this was all before they built that third north/south runway.

Yeah yeah I know I'm not knocking your home crew. FYI
PAX ops don't have the peak/sort time push near that of freight ops though. It's like everyone Mach 1.0 to the hub wait wait wait wait for it wait AIR RAID!!! Run to the plane!!!! Go go go go ....wake up repeat
Amazon does seem to be more of a steady stream, way different than typical sort. Actually more like PAX ops... but you do have volume and spacing when all are heavies

"When Amazon begins flying from CVG in the spring, it will use global shipping giant DHL’s facilities at CVG while it plans and builds:" (quote from article.)
Does this suggest a future strategic alliance between DHL and Amazon? What incentive would DHL have to help Amazon start up without a long term benefit? Rather cozy arrangement that I doubt could have been forged with either Fedex or UPS. It's going to get interesting.

Which happens all the time in employment cases, because a successful outcome isn't necessarily defined as winning the case (assuming that the argument isn't completely-frivolous), but is often defined as creating leverage through uncertainty, and a benefit can even be found when the end result is just lengthy disruption and uncertainty.
Also happens all the time in cases challenging statutes. Just because something is a stretch doesn't mean that making the argument will not serve a purpose.
And when I say the devil is in the details, I'm assuming that we don't know what the actual arrangement will be. Suppose Amazon doesn't just make some arrangement for use of real estate. Suppose that DHL insists that it must provide certain personnel and services in conjunction with Amazon's use of its building and ramps -- which isn't too farfetched given that there are other stakeholders here, like insurers, and we don't know what DHL's contracts with its vendors provide. All of a sudden, maybe there is something there.
Again, I'm just spitballing, and you're probably right.

The language in their scope clause is rather specific. That is why I believe it would be, as you say "completely frivolous".
And, just for the sake of argument, if a judge would be willing to let this play out, a case could be made by a snake tongue lawyer that ATI has "past presidence" working in their favor because they have operated 767 aircraft on DHL flights out of CVG in the place of their 757's when they were down for MX.
It's a weak argument, but like you said, "I'm just spit ball'en here".

If UPS or FedEx wanted they could just buy ATSG and Atlas and call it good. They could acquire ATSG stock like chump change. Atlas may require them to go dig around in the couch a bit.

What I think will be interesting is what the Sisters of Perpetual Motion Convent across the river from the departure end 36R will say about the increased heavy traffic. They have held sway over the goings on at CVG for decades. I'm sure they are not pleased!!!

Not sure how this is going to work over the weekend though when all the DHL birds are on the ramp for the weekend.

Could be, but that would be like renting out the spare bedroom to your divorced brother-in-law for a case of Schitz knowing he is going to end up banging your wife. Smacks of quid pro quo to me.....time will tell.

Help me here. Wouldn't your brother in law be your wife's brother? Or perhaps you have a brother in law from another sister?
Forgive the inquiry...I'm an only child and baffled.
The imagery, however is quite clear: Prolly a bad idea is what you are sayin'. I think I got that part.
