First of all Atlas isn't home based.

There are three categories of reserve, R1, R2 and R3. R1 is home reserve. You're not on the clock, have a certain amount of time to depart from an airport to get to your plane and pay and rig start when you report for your flight. R2 is hotel reserve and rig starts when the reserve starts if it's at the beginning of your line or the whole line is reserve. R3 is airport reserve and again rig starts at your first reserve period and you're paid 1 for 2.

On the Captain's side in the December bids CVG, HSV IAH, ORD and PAE have R2 lines. One of the HSV lines is to sit reserve in MIA. Except for CVG, a reserve line just means they haven't figured out where they're going to use you yet.

I live in DFW, so they’d pos space me from DFW to the base if I’m R2 or R3 and I’ll sit at a hotel or airport and they’ll cover the hotel costs? If I’m R1 I’d sit at home at DFW and wait for a call to go somewhere? I’m just guessing DFW is a gateway city, I’ve been unable to find a complete list of what qualifies as a gateway city.

Per the company, Gateway is going away. Per the pilot group, so are the Pilots.

You have the idea. There are 85 Gateway airports listed in the contract. Not sure if any have been added. And as Waco says, the company has said they want to get rid of Gateway.
