Omni doesn’t have much “bidding” from what they told me. You bid for days off and maybe if you want to be based in Vegas. So, an FO that hasn’t upgraded, isn’t doing so for the schedule I assume. Maybe they know they won’t make upgrade and the original post was spot on.

enjoy your job search. I hope that you find your forever home with an airline that has your “work life balance” and “triggers” in mind. The minimums shouldn’t be published. They should be arbitrary and based on non tangible criteria like “empathy, thought and prayers, multi-culturalism and gender neutral pronoun use” and not on facts and numbers. These horrible regulators and insurance companies obviously favor older, gender binary and intolerant, unwoke individuals. Aviation and ACMI really need a lesson in tolerance.

Yeah actually some don’t for the schedule. You bid days off sure but it’s not your choice. The lines are published and days off listed. The senior FOs will get what they want/need first. Also upgrade at OAI is no joke. You need to know your ****! Upgrade isn’t spoon feed like many other places. The expectations are VERY high.

ahm, a lot of the lines are known flying with some being over guarantee so a senior FO would definitely like to snap those up. I know a few of them and they are very comfortable with their bidding.

Working on a crew of 3 or 4 when you are an FO is a pretty lazy job if you want it to be. Probably a factor for some folks. Captains at these places have a lot on their plate.

There are two types of bids.

The monthly schedule bids are a mix of lines that are mostly reserve days where you bid your days on/off; and a smaller chunk of lines of scheduled flying much like a normal airline bid line.

The other bid is a System Bid for upgrade, base/program, equipment changes. This is where you would bid Vegas, General Population, or Special Programs. It has been running just about every month for various reasons. It also runs whenever they need Captains, whenever they need people in Vegas/Special Programs.

There are plenty of guys in special programs, or Vegas, or bidding known flying near where they live that can not hold the same positions as Captains. The most junior Captain in Vegas for example is 12 year seniority, the most junior FO in Vegas is a new hire.

What he said. In addition, even in genpop, seniority can get you not only the days you want, but also split lines. With intelligent bidding and a bit of seniority, you can significantly cut back on your exposure to Work as an F/O here. This does not seem to be true for C/As.

If I had to Guess 75% of my interview was based on how I hand flew the 777 sim. It's nice to know a solid scan and some stick and rudder skills are important to at least a few companies.
