World Airways

The company just sent out a training schedule that includes at least 3 more new hires (MD-11 fo's). We haven't heard an exact total number, but 20 has been batted around.

How can I apply?

jonnyjetprop 01-07-2011 02:47 PM

I was told that there may be something on the web site next week. You can always mail a resume in too. I would still check the web site too.

flypixs 01-08-2011 12:33 AM

there should be a link out on the web somewhere. It came out about 2 month ago.

jonnyjetprop 01-08-2011 07:36 AM

That link was closed when we filled the December class.

Well, what are you waiting for? Stalk him and talk his language....buy him a beer! He's probably a regular at one of your local bars.

15789 01-23-2011 09:55 AM

Just checked World's site, and the link is closed.

HercDriver130 01-23-2011 02:09 PM

Any update on hiring for this round? ..... how many, when, former ATA guys, has it happened already, etc.

gasnhaul 01-31-2011 07:08 PM

Site's still open. Probably won't even be calls going out until site closes but numbers would be nice to know.

Amen to that. I would be down there washing his cars, mowing the lawn, serving Margaritas, whatever it took.

skypiratedc10 02-05-2011 03:42 PM

If he's like the majority of us - just drop off a case of good beer and your resume - that should be about all that's needed.

Why stop there? We all like a good [deleted] job. Have some self respect. If you're qualified you'll get the call. Prostituting ourselves is the problem with this industry.

Dude, it was obviously a tongue-in-cheek post, so quit taking yourself so seriously. Besides, getting to know someone to for an internal recommendation is not "prostituting" oneself. In case you haven't noticed the real world, many new-hires get hired this way.

In the words of Sgt. Hulka, "Lighten up Francis."

Hey World is a good outfit which is why I recently applied. Don't forget to attach everything as one doc, pdf is the easiest.

Washing someone's car, mowing his lawn and serving him margaritas is getting to know someone? Stupid me I've been paying my gardener, seems he just wanted to be friends.

My comment was tongue-in-cheek, however, getting to know someone for the sole purpose of a job recommendation is called '@ss kissing.' There once was a day when qualifications mattered, but call me old fashioned.

That's funny. Because, it was blaringly OBVIOUS that the car washing, lawn mowing and margarita making comments were tongue-in-cheek too. Yet you chose hypocrisy. I was at World in a past life and I will attest that qualifications definitely mattered. Otherwise, if one somehow made it through the interview, the unqualified would get washed out in training.

Are you new to the profession?

Out of curiosity, where are you now? I've always enjoyed your posts and perspective.

Damn!!! there goes my computer monitor:eek:! I have to keep the coffee mug off the computer table:D.

Man I got torched on that!!!! Actually, I would probably get to know the guy, meet his family, invite them over to the ranch for a BBQ. Of course, that would depend on how much credit I have on my Food Stamps account. 3 Holer, please do not lecture me on the in's & out's of this industry. Truth be known, I have more time over the OM that you have in your logbook. (OM means Outer Marker; a funny little noise starts beeping and a little light starts flashing) Now a little Boeing humor: the B727-100 is a three holer, and the -200 is a four holer. Know why??? Incindentally, you seem very angry about something. (TOS Deleted)

Since you're such an "out of the box" thinker, you tell us the origins of "4 holer".

ATCsaidDoWhat 02-15-2011 04:32 PM

While we're playing "stump the chump"...what is the "non essential bus" on a 727?

Never flew the scooter but in C-141s we said the non essential bus was the one on which the navigator rode out to the plane. :)

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!:):D

Only difference was on the -27, it was the one that brought the F/O to the airport. Six switches and gear lever down- "Checklist complete, I'll take the chicken..."
