With that being said, we do have applications from UA pilots and they will be looked at.

How about this, you talk to someone privy to information about the number of applicants and come back with the exact number. My guess is there's bare minimum 1000 from expressjet pilots, plus applications from CFIs that are just getting their ATP mins. Beyond that you'll have some mainline pilots who have been told that the recovery could be about 5 years- they won't give up their seniority and if you think they would you're naive or have forgotten seeing them get recalled after their great recession furloughs.

UAX carriers will be furloughing to offset UAL block hour scope limitations caused by decreased flying in 2020 long before they start hiring UAX guys again - or anyone else. And UAL-ALPA is not going to even consider giving management additional scope. They wouldn’t do it even before they were going to have guys furloughed.

I was responding to a post suggesting that United pilots had preferred hiring at CommutAir and would be getting interviews. I imagine that the 50 seaters will take a hit when block hours are reduced due to reduced mainline hours when the look back kicks in. They will probably fully utilize the 70/76 seat jets and use the smaller planes for what is left.

50 seat operators don’t have to offer any preferential hiring to furloughed UAL pilots. I personally talked to a management guy from a UAX carrier that was obligated to offer preferential hiring back in ‘09 and they were not a fan of the program at all. The United guys seemed to always try to tell them how to run their show and say “well at United we did things this way”
