Wouldn’t be too surprising to see the pilot group shrink back down to the low 300s in the next month or two between all the CAs and FOs leaving.
From what Im hearing most regionals aren't giving out classes within 2 weeks. Its about a 6 month wait. This is the reason we are getting people in the door. They apply with Republic, Endeavor and Commutair and then Commutair offers a class next month and Republic and Endeavor offer one in January. Even if you sit reserve for 5 months you'll still be building hours at Commutair before you even have a chance to sit reserve at another regional.

The real killer is going to be the guys that drop from CA pay back down to FO pay after the LOA expires in December.

We're offering classes to new hire FOs that are in November. There's a backlog here just as much as other places.

I'm actually sorta surprised no one has stopped the new hire bonuses. Most places sound like they are full and unless they're being more selective (and C5 isn't selective at all), they can cut down on the bonuses and keep getting FOs.

So even if you sit reserve for 5 months, you’re building time at CommutAir before you even begin flying at another regional.

The real killer will be when they drop the FOs pay back down when the LOA expires.

Do you mean DEC's are getting classes within two weeks? Otherwise CommutAir is a 6 month wait just like the others you mentioned.

FOs are having to wait because we are fat on FOs. DEC will start ASAP since we are short captains. They have classes every two weeks that start, but they need it be as much as captains as possible.

How long will that continue? I’m considering coming in as a DEC but if they stop it right after I come in, my seniority will essentially be lowest guy in the company for years.....

There is no end in sight to the need for captains. Unless all hiring stops for some unexpected reason you should be ok.

Latest estimate I heard was April is when we should catch up on home grown captains.

I wouldn’t worry about them stopping DEC hiring anytime soon. There is a reason they upped the sign on bonus AND they now offer us a 10k referral bonus for DEC candidates. We have something like 70 more FOs than CA in EWR, which for a company with a seniority list in the 400s and still trying to take planes, is a big gap.
