From an APA e-mail yesterday......
In the afternoon, the board approved a motion to direct the president to "respond in the affirmative to the Company's request for a JCBA timeline extension under JCBA para. 27 of the MOU with the quid of:
Retroactivity to a date that prevents the pilots from losing compensation including, but not limited to any pension adjustments due to the extension and
All T/A'd items to date are agreed to and not subject to any potential future arbitration process, and
That the extension shall allow time for the APA to conclude its membership ratification process."

It will be just long enough for the FA's vote to be finalized, say 10 Nov. I think that is the date. Then if that is a yes vote we will have our deal announced. if it is a no vote, expect another extension. Think about the strategic reasons behind all of this, and you will get your answers.

It's a 30 day extension if the company accepts it..
The company asked the APA to agree to a 30 day extension. The BOD directed the APA President to accept the extension with a few conditions. It's up to the company if they accept those conditions... I'm sure they will. The conditions were retro pay so pay implementation not effected by this delay and anything already agreed on cannot be re-opened...

JCBA timeline extension
The FA's Delta plus 10% will be used as leverage for us. They vote early Nov. Thats why this is happening, according to someone high up at APA. If they vote yes then we will demand the same... Delta plus some percent.

I seriously hope they also include Delta work rules, etc. I hope someone is looking beyond Section 3 because a couple of Negotiating Committee updates ago contained a lot of "No"s.

If Parker refuses to match Delta and/or takes advantage of arbitration he'll win, but at what cost ?
All that will ensure is an angry, distrustful and uncooperative group of 15,000 pilots that make the airline run and anchor the product produced by others. If we end up going down that same old well worn road of past failure, Parker will simply be telling Wall Street and the world that the "new" American Airlines will still essentially be the "old" American Airlines and that Airline was not a leader. It would be a VERY bad foundation with which to build what he supposedly wants to build. Even if circumstances change things for the better for the pilots down the road, trust and cooperation will remain casualties of playing a hand that has always lost in the past and the New AA will likely never reach its true potential.
