JCBA timeline extension

Parker and Kirby will never have a better opportunity to get scope concessions than they have now, purely based on demographics.
And they know it.
The large group of older pilots, especially the over-60's, will vote for anything that includes a pay raise -- especially a substantial pay raise ("substantial" by US standards, but "substandard" compared to the rest of the industry) -- without the least regard as to the collateral damage inflicted upon the rest of their younger fellow pilots.
Witness the MOU.
Did anybody even read past the page with the "new and improved" pay rates in the glossy brochure?
Everyone is now complaining about not getting profit sharing. Then why in the hell did you vote to give it up in the first place?
Everybody. On three. Ready? 1-2-3...
"Because I needed the money."
And that was a 75% vote in favor. They only need 51% to get the scope concessions they want.
If Parker and Kirby can somehow get a JCBA TA out to the rank-and-file pilots that's loaded with scope giveaways; but includes even a modest pay raise, it will be the equivalent of a two-inch tap-in putt or an empty-net goal.

You have a very valid point regarding this pilot group and the old selling out the young... strong track record of this.
HOWEVER, I have spoken directly with my rep and they said that the BOD's goal is for this to NOT go to a membership vote because they know that the membership will approve it even with scope giveaways. They intend to keep it at the BOD level so that it doesn't go to the membership, because it doesn't have to, according to how the MOU is written.
The next few weeks will be interesting. Let's hope that people think about all this and stop the slippery slope of scope erosion.

Part of me thinks they are using the 81 seat scope thing (cause they know it's a hot button issue for us) as a way to distract us from something else. I can't imagine they think it's something other then a long shot that we would agree to relief based on where DL and UAL are at. I could be wrong though. But I mean how can we give up scope in ultra-profitable times and then look theses guys in the face at the airport or on the J/S without embarrassment...?
I suspect the last best offer will be a choice between:
1. "unknown arbitration" or
2. "pay rates increases now" (with scope and/or more hidden concessions in work rules, vacation bidding scams, and PBS).
I suppose the glitter of pay rates will win and most of us will not know that we lost the shell game, until we see it in action.
To borrow a Pelosi-ism.. We have to pass it to see whats really in it...

We need to be equally concerned about international code share, joint ventures, and one world alliance. We should also make sure republic is not going to start an airline with their 40 130 seat C300 C-Series jets and code share with us.

There are serious scope concerns on the horizon.
Republic has 40 CS300 "regional jets" on order. It's got a 143,000 lb MTOW and seats 130 in two classes.
Skywest ordered 100 and TSA ordered 50 of the E175 E2 family of aircraft. They seat 80 in a 2-class arrangement and have a MTOW of around 97,000 lbs.
Skywest and TSA also ordered 100 and 50 respectively of the MRJ-90, which has an MTOW over the current scope limit and seats over 90 people.
Where are these airplanes going? They compete directly with our E190s and A319s. These are currently OUR jobs, and *someone* out there seems to think they are going to outsource those positions to regional crews making peanuts.
Hold the line on scope, period.

That falls in line with Kirby comment that it's becoming more difficult for them the find profitable missions for the 319. Said it at some conference 3-4 weeks ago.
Also if you noticed two weeks ago, AA converted 319 positions for 321's.
So that might be your answer as to WHO thinks they are going to place them somewhere.

Frequency is king, the more flights per day the better. 190's make a lot of sense, but from my research an A319 and E190 are similar in purchase cost, in fact you might even be able to get a sweetheart deal on A319's because they aren't selling. Not sure about operating cost though.
Anyone know what the current and proposed language on code sharing is? And how is APA handling it?
