Agreed.. In the lastest CP newsletter, it says they will try to accommodate any schedule requests for interviews. I suppose it's in their interest to help people get out to avoid having to furlough. Happens to be in our interest too. I hope the union's efforts with securing preferential interviews with the top tier places works out for us and we can get some needed attention

I don't think They actually know. I don’t doubt they are trying. This place will not survive on 20 aircraft flying, not with the overhead and not with the displacement bid costs they would accrue. It just wouldn't.

So I think management is trying, if only to save their own jobs. How successful those efforts will be..? We just won’t know until we know.

Yeah that would be nice. The comment from the phone call really got me though. Someone asked about the announcement being made this year and the response was something to the extent of "well that's a loaded question". Makes me think we are actually quite a ways away from hearing anything. And the comment saying "we could afford to lose some pilots". Just doesn't have me as optimistic as I used to be.

I have been reading a lot in different sections of APC and it got me thinking. If in fact the rumors are true and Compass is in talks with United about getting flying from them, there are a few big pieces in play that probably need to be worked out first. It seems likely that Mana Air will be the umbrella under which all United RJ flying will end up falling. However before United moves forward and signs on anything they probably want to wait till they get a deal done with their pilots so that they will know what their scope limit will be going forward (and if there deal will need to include flow up/down). It seems like scope is the big topic that United is trying to work out with their pilot group. my guess is that once United comes to an agreement with its pilots, the future plans for Mana air will become much more clear and so too will the future of Compass and what roll if any it might play. This would seems like the only logical reason why they can't even give us a general answer as when there might be some new news, because they have no idea when the preceding steps in the process will be completed. My feeling is that Compass does have a general agreement like RT said with United but they can't work out the final details of a contract yet until United deals with the things listed above. Either that or management is just completely full of it and lying to our face to keep planes moving till the doors close.

Sounds nice, but how do we then account for the change in tone from the initial announcement to now?

I think that the overly positive tone in the first announcement was meant to help soften the blow of losing the Delta flying. If they had come right out and said we are losing Delta and don't know when/if there will be anything else the place would have burned down. If they say we are losing Delta but have something great coming soon it sounds a lot better. Then they can slowly back it down over time say great things are still coming just not as soon as we had hoped. and who knows depending on how things go with talks between United and its pilots and what the outcome of those talks are the whole Compass/United deal could easily still fall apart with so many moving parts involved.

I DO believe that we could be getting Mana Air flying as UAX

I DO believe HOW MUCH UAX flying we may be getting is dependent onUA management’s negotiations with ALPA on scope.

I also think those negotiations may take months, years, or eventually go to arbitration which certainly isn’t under the control of anybody at Compass.

That being said, if Moxy starts advertising for Emb 170/190 pilots as a lead-in to flying their A220s, I’m putting in an app. There certainly isn’t any scarcity of opportunities out there if this goes on too long...

I can tell you as a new UA pilot scope will be held. Also it would only go to arbitration if the pilot group/mgmt agreed to binding arbitration. That will never happen. Read up on the RLA process

So it’s the unions job to get interviews for you? What’s next, want them to sit in and represent you during the interview too? They’re busy enough as it is trying to find their own new jobs, much less trying find new ones for us.
