Compass: Upgrade? Orders?
I am curious if Compass is still a good place to go...not necessarily for the NWA flowthrough but more importantly the upgrade. Meaning, is upgrade still running at about 12 months if hired in the next couple months? Are the aircraft being delivered at a better rate? Overall, how are things there?

I just started, and everyone I have talked to is very happy at Compass. Some of the guys who got in at the start had a rough time with pay and some other things. That is to be expected with a start-up company. I was told up-grade is still about 12 mths and I am in the 160ish range for senority.
But the up-grade time will get longer unless we get more than the 36 airplanes planned for now. I hope that answered your question. Maybe someone who has been around longer can give you a little better info.

Decent schedules. range from 21 days off to 11 days off. for feb we had 40 hard lines. 30 lines have 13 or more days off, 4 CDO lines and only about 2 or 3 had 11 days off. Trips range from all day trips to 4 day trips.
I commute from South Florida and I had to bid around 20 lines for Feb. Every trip I can commute in that day and only 2 trips I have to spend the night in MSP.
As for upgrades and airplane delivery. The 10th plane got here last week with 2 more this month. They are a little behind about 3 weeks behind.
At the end of 2007 we only had 9 instead of 11.
We are around 170ish on the list and we need about 180 by end of this year. 4 NWA guys will leave around May. So if you get hired and start class with the next month or two then by next year you will be either junior CA or very senior FO.
MEM and DTW open in April
good luck

So far, I would agree with the info posted thus far.
However, I've been hearing MEM might open before DTW. I believe CPS prefers both bases to open simultaneously but it is a function of the NW marketing schedule.
There has been no indication about NW exercising their right to add 18 additional 76 seat aircraft. You can bet your last dollar they will; it's just a question of who will fly them. IMHO, NW has been investing a lot of time and money in the CPS infrastructure to not continue the company's growth.
I would seriously consider joining us sooner than later.
That being said, I think the happy people here have an entrepreneurial (really intrapreneurial) mindset. They recognize that the risk/reward relationship.
FYI:
- EFBs now installed on all new a/c deliveries (we'll start using them this summer).
- PBS starts this summer.

I'm still curious as to why NWA even made compass. I haven't really looked into it any and haven't been reading what's been going on so can someone fill me in as to why they were created? If Mesaba is owned by NWA and fly CRJ900s then why not just put the 175s on that ticket?

How long is it now from putting in application until they call you for an interview? What is the best way to get them your info? online, mail... or...??
And when you flow up to NWA from Compass, do you keep your original hire date at Compass to NWA, or start over at NWA??
Also are they hiring people without ATP's? Do they give you your ATP in training if you dont have it since they are giving PIC type rides??
Thanks.

It all depends on when you finish training and how many airplanes are flying, also on the upgrades. 6 got awarded upgrade in Jan but they still had to bid for FO lines in Feb. dont know why J.K. is not the most outspoken CP.
