Guys, Compass is using resources of mesaba until they can operate on their own.

I don't think there are any plans on operating "on their own." Compass is a virtual company. Almost everything is outsourced, from aircraft servicing to pilot training. It's rare to meet someone other than a crew-member who is actually employed by Compass. Compass was created as a result of NWA's desire to outsource flying during bankruptcy (the same reason Mesaba got -900s), it was not created to build an "airline."

Usually rumors are just that, rumors. I do not see Compass merging with Mesaba because there are too many barriers to have that happen. For one, Mesaba has the protection against NWA pilot flow down, only the same number of Mesaba pilot who have flowed up can flow down to Mesaba, even then the seniority numbers of those Mesaba pilots who have flowed up remains vacant so no one is really displaced at Mesaba, where as at Compass, everyone can be displaced by NWA furloughees. Another is there are way too many senior pilots at Mesaba who will never agree to merging the seniority number with Compass unless Compass pilots are stapled at the bottom and I seriously doubt Compass pilots would go for that. Date of hire might work if certain conditions are met. This does not mean anything though, if the NWA management wants to merge Mesaba and Compass, it will happen no matter what. I have not heard any substantiated facts to this rumor so I am discounting it.

Good lord. A thread about a merger that will never happen, and some are already throwing us under the bus. If we wanted to be at the bottom of the Mesaba list that's were we would have gone. You could have applied to Compass too.

I think you misunderstood the main content of my post. No one is attempting to throw you guys under the bus. We have nothing to gain by that. At any case don't take these posts too seriously. These are just speculations. I wrote that merger between Mesaba and Compass will not happen. Like you said, Compass is a virtual company and eveything is outsourced except pilots and FAs. What would be gained by merging Mesaba and Compass? Nothing that I can see from the NWA standpoint. BTW, Compass did offer me a job last year and I turned them down because I had already accepted an offer from Mesaba.

I should have added the more likely scenario is that Compass will be sold after the DAL/NWA merger to another carrier. This is the latest rumor I have heard while I was at the NWA/DAL joint merger presentation. But I do not believe it will happen anytime soon because NWA pilots want Compass to be around.
