I just got done checking loads to about a dozen different cities in Europe out of JFK and ATL and in the spirit of keeping this thread positive, I simply will not say any more. Hopefully it's just February off-season loads.

Any thing new at compass... Last time I read this post it seemed as if hiring was stagnant... today compass post a job ad on some website for FO's... If they are hiring any ideas on when the next class is?

I think every regional out there is "collecting" resumes. Don't expect much, and you won't be disappointed!

I dont even have a resume in at compass so no expectations just curious since like everone else in the industry I have furloughed friends looking for jobs...

I don't think it will last that long but some companies cal just cut you off and never recall you after a period of time.

Tprop, my advice to you would be this: Keep flying. Options are scarce especially for a furloughed Regional pilot(I presume you do not have 1000 turbine pic). The options you have do not pay very well. Maybe as a 2nd job you could look into instructing or jump pilot. Hopefully you can fly enough. Most regionals(late 90's era) liked to see 75 hours in the last 3 months. I think when hiring starts again you will see similar requirements, so be prepared. There will also be a lot of competition for a few opportunities. Hopefully you can find a way to "check boxes" on your resume, this starts with current flying. Networking is also very important while furloughed. Spend time at your local airport, you never know who you will meet. As for being recalled, if you really liked the company then stick it out. But keep looking for another flying job in the mean time, you may find something better. I don't know how long your recall rights last, be familiar with them! Unfortunately, there is not much you can do about who's hiring during a downward cycle. It just has to play it's course. But, you need to work harder then the next guy if you want to get through this downturn sooner. Hopefully next down cycle you'll be sitting comfortably in the middle of a stable major airlines seniority list. |
