Tell me about Compass
Please no flaming here...
Im furloughed from RAH on the 175 and not expecting recall in the next 6 months so Im "considering" Compass. I only have 6 months of seniority at RAH so giving that up really isnt a big deal.
My questions: anywhere I can read or find out about the CBA, QoL is everything to me, I know DTW is junior base but whats the "timeline" for getting into MSP? Any word of more bases on the west coast (SLC communter)? How are the schedules?
Like every regional, I know there is a downside, what are the top complaints (again, please dont just Compass bash, esp if you dont work there)?
Thanks

I don't work there but only heard good things. considered jumping ship there myself. You might want to read this tho in efforts of make a fully informed and solid decision. Not sure exactly if this will effect pilots but good info to have. good luck

the Delta NWA merger is a possilbe concern but it seems like compass will come out of it okay, with flowthrough to delta intact, however, i worked for AE and am fully aware that what flows up can flowback, i am cautious...

Compass is not hiring so this is a moot point in the short term.
Also, if there is flowback, Compass will not hire for years.
To get some answers to your question though, search for a post about Compass by APC username "JungleBus." It covers most of what you might be curious about.

The likely outcome of your choice is highly tied to what Delta does. If Delta furloughs 400 pilots they will have the ability to completely flush the Compass list and fly those E-175's. Your furloughed now, so really there isn't much to lose other than possibly giving up recall to RAH then getting furloughed again from Compass if Delta furloughs. If Delta doesn't furlough, then you'll probably be OK and have the ability to flow up to Delta without interviewing which for a SLC guy could be a good thing. If you don't have anything else going, I'd go for it if you can live with a commute to DTW.

And thats the biggest losing point (2 legs for 5 years, sounds like oh so much fun)
stupid airlines, nothings easy

Compass isn't hiring right now, but they may be interviewing for a pool. If the pilots had it our way, they would hire about 30 more. Right now staffing isn't good, which means we fly a lot.
There is no attrition so you could expect to be on reserve for a while, that is, if they hire, which they aren't planning on. It's a typical regional airline though. The pilot/management relationship isn't bad, but the contract isn't great to begin with. Again, typical regional (I feel I'm qualified to say this since it is my third regional).

Email the guy at wasinc.aero and see if Grand China Express would take you as an FO on the E190 with your exp on the 175...never hurts to ask...
There are some other E175 gigs overseas, but you gotta look...flynas in Saudi...if you can handle a dry country for a bit...Storm Aviation recruits for them...google it...
