Compass Hiring
#21
Many of the last new hires at Compass have a lot more than that; many have less. It seems they don't shy away from hiring "high timers" here. I hear Mesaba is in the same boat: many pilots hired from ATA, Airtran, etc.

Wise man speak when they have something to say... Fools speak because they have to say something..
You No little about Compass. This is my third regional and the other two were at the top of the food change at the time i began flying there. This group of pilots is the best i have worked with (the former were Eagle and Air willy.. when you needed more then a pulse to get hired) Compass is fourtunate that the industry is in a down turn, there is no question about that but what airline isn't fourtunate when they don't have to look to replace there pilots at a rate of 20 per month. Sure the contract has some areas that are lacking but so did Air Willy (considered one of the best) All I know is I am home more, fly more in a month and the hourly pay hit i took after leaving air willy as a 7 year pilot (3 years as a captain) has been more then made up. Unfortunatley, some of the junior guys don't have it as good and that is what we need to change at compass.
As far as pay i brought more home in year 1 at Compass then i did at year 7 at air willy.

yeah i flew more hours but the work was less difficult. Most legs I fly are in excess of 2 hours not that up and down crap on the east coast. I usually fly 2-3 legs per day with 7 hours of credit and 4 day trips that average 23.30 hours of pay. The flying is much easier on my body. When I left Air Willy I was flying 78 hours per month with 13 days off (and that was half way up the list) That east coast shuffle with 25 minute turns was a killer.
Currently I have 15-17 days off and credit 88 hours and drive to work. Again i am fourtunate because i have good seniorty and the biggest beef I have with Compass is that the junior guys life is miserable now... and that NEEDS to CHANGE. Nobody needs the crap that some are spewing out in the managment ranks.

Yeah i was in the first flew classes at Compass. Before NWA decided to hire and then of course i was in Montreal finishing my type. I had no chance of getting hired at NWA once I was at Compass.. IN fact i had a few friends who tried to get on at compass in the first few inital classes and they couldn't get a call.... Now they are at Delta North senior to me.. Funny how things work out.

I would imagine since the hiring is not even a trickle, its mainly people with internal references that interviewed months ago. Its not qualifications that are preventing you getting called, its just the fact that anyone starting class since last fall interviewed in October or so.
