Business casual. The same applies for the duration of training. Leave the tie at home.

When you get to Pan Am, who trains you in the sim, a Compass employee or a Pan Am employee?

Compass. Most are line pilots. We have some non line pilots instructors that are employees. Either way they have all been great.

Thanks. So, about 2.5 months from orientation to being done with IOE? Do they send you back home at all between ground and sims?

Just depends, I had 3 breaks but your mileage will vary. One right before sims (2 weeks), one right after sims (2 weeks), and the usual break after the LOE (9 days). You'll get your schedule the first week you get back, and it will probably change a lot throughout training (at least mine did). Seems like every class is a bit different my orientation was Dec. 18 and I finished IOE on Mar. 28.

To be clear..."they" don't send you anywhere.
You can use your jump seat privileges anytime you want. Just be sure to get back in time for your next session.

Oh alright, so then a hotel room is available at all times for those that choose to stay in MSP during the whole process?

Anyone got any ideas how we are going to keep hiring enough pilots? Serious post, no trolling here...

Endeavor offers up to $80,000 in retention bonuses. $2,000 for every referral. And a quick upgrade.

Piedmont has a no-interview flow to American. And a quick upgrade.

etc. etc. etc.

Aside from a quick upgrade and a junior west coast base, Compass pales in comparison when it comes to pay. Our DAL flow is gone, and the language on the guaranteed interview is so unclear that it's about as good as runway behind you. And we are just now getting the company to pay for hotels during training? No wonder the past few classes of 10+ have had less than half that number actually show up!

Hopefully we won't have a staffing issue, but there need to be more incentives to fly for this airline.

Endeavor doesn't have a fast upgrade. They only have 5 people for June and July combined for their new hire classes. I think once more 121 guys realize the quick upgrades are still here they'll attract some more of them.

I still had to pay for my one way ticket + hotel to orientation, so once I get the $400 from the CBT, I'll break even.

Yeah, Compass may not be for everyone, unless you live in SoCal - and I think that junior LAX base is a big of enough "incentive" to most.

Hopefully if AA throws more E175s their way...

Compass does have a pretty awesome contract though...

Endeavor has "promised" $80,000 over a long period of time...don't forget they are wholly owned and are more easily disposed than the other DCI carriers. Also, they do NOT offer quick upgrades. They are assuming upgrades will happen but it's not the case yet.

I you look solely at 1st year pay with possible retention bonus then it's a short sighted view. Upgrading here will mean you surpass the pay any new FO gets while at 9E. Remember they're not even close to upgrade times like we have here.

But you're right, Compass is way behind on offering incentives to come here. The hotel thing for new hires is just the beginning and I assume more will be offered as the hiring dept struggles to get enough guys in class. Some sort of bonus to new hires will probably be the next step.

I was hoping you'd come in and sprinkle your sunshine on this subject. Hey, what's up with ugly Delta Connection performance numbers? Just a cut above GoJet. RA can't be too happy. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/im...ons/icon12.gif

Lanesuzza 04-21-2015 06:48 AM

Is Compass still sending new hires home for home study or are they doing all training at their training center? Previous posts stated a 2 week at home CBT. Is that still the case? Are new hires paid while at home training with the CBT?

Okay, same song, different station. Why are you so inclined to believe Delta would remove Endeavor, their cheap and reliable regional feed from the whipsaw group? Because of Comair? One out of four that Delta has owned. Doing so would only give the remaining regionals more of a upper hand with Delta

2 week at home CBT. You get paid 18.5 hours (IIRC) for it. Then normal guarantee of 75 hours a month starts on your first day back to ground school.

YOU ARE A TROLL and you are incorrect.
Endeavor has 9 year FOs! You've got to be kidding me! There are first officers who were displaced from Captain years ago at endeavor. To say that it's a quick upgrade is a LIE. Up until last month, they were still DOWNGRADING at endeavor!

Compass does have a junior west coast base (two actually). They also have career progression(quick upgrade). Virtually zero lifers. But most importantly, NOT A BANKRUPTCY OR CONCESSIONARY CONTRACT. PSA and Endeavor both have garbage contracts. Absolute garbage compared to the new Compass CBA that was just agreed to last year (and if I may add, made positive gains on the previous contract).

Ar Pilot 04-21-2015 08:38 AM

There is a reason 6-8 year FOs are leaving Endeavor to come to Compass.

I'm glad I could make your day and show up on schedule. The first DCI carrier to never had bad numbers can be the first to throw the stone. Until then, your off-point argument is stupid. Moving on.

I didn't say they would shut them down. I say they will sell them...NOT SHUT DOWN...SELL THEM...to the highest bidder therefore nullifying the 80k promise. That's all. My opinion. I'm sorry you take my posts so personally. MY OPINION just like you can post yours.
We obviously have differing views. Feel free to keep posting yours on any forum you like.

I just asked you why you think that, and why you think its a bad thing. It's not that tough of a question!!! All you can sat is that they're wholly owned. Compass was and It hasn't worked out so bad for them, or ASA for that matter.

I don't think being sold off is a bad thing UNLESS you are banking on getting the 80k and the SSP or whatever the FOs have now. That's all. Being sold off would probably be the best thing that could happen for the future of 9E. I hope it happens...regardless of the 80k bonus.

Guys in my class are showing they are holding it in the "what if tab". I've been on the line for 1 month.
