2 on everything above.

I love working at whiskey, but I wouldn't recommend it to new guys until we get a future ironed out.

I've researched both companies, but would like input regarding the day-to-day realities of working for either company and commuting to their bases (since I'll probably have to commute either way).

Thanks in advance for the info!

I Have a buddy who has offers from Awac, Psa, And gojet.Xjt canceled his class otherwise he would be there. He also has skywest coming up in a couple weeks. If he is successful at Skywest that's where he will go, otherwise it's Psa or gojet he said. The future at Awac is too uncertain with the crj 200 aging fleet .They may get an extension on their flying for maybe a year but in the end you will still have to look for new employment in a year or so

Comutting sucks, literally sucks the life out of you.

The movement of a company is generally proportionate to it's contract. If the contract sucks people, move on. If the contract is good, people linger around longer.

Awac has a better contract, longer upgrade and a uncertain future.
Compass has a worse contract, shorter upgrade and a somewhat stable future.

The choice is yours.

While I am not privy to secret info...I would add that AWAC's contract extension to 2017 is very likely...and there will be plenty of new flying to go around...don't forget...AWAC has good fundamentals and lots of cash on hand, with the industry dynamics changing dramtically I can see that the way contracts are awarded will depart from conventional wisdom...joining AWAC may be a better risk than you might think.

But if you want to be tactical about it...with the movement to mainline...you stand a good chance of not being around before any contracts are up...why not go to a place with top of regional sector work rules and pay.

I also hear Compass doesn't have travel benefits...that may have changed but if you are going to work at an airline...why not reap one of the basic benefits that just about everyone else has.

That all being said...the reasons stated above are good reasons to go to Compass...but the choice is not nearly as cut and dried as has been posited.

Wait what? Compass has ALWAYS had travel benefits.

Also guaranteed movement far beyond anyone else and a stable fleet plan until 2020.

News to me...going on what a former Captain for compass (who just left) said to me...I asked him for a buddy pass not to long ago and he said they don't have travel benefits.

Plus a guaranteed interview with Delta and a possibility at growth with other airlines.

We don't have buddy passes but they're worthless anyways.

All aside - you can't bank on quick upgrades and "projected" situations...

I went to Compass because of what I heard about the type of people who work here and what the company had to offer as a whole.

Sure, I might upgrade by the end of next year - but if I don't, I won't have a problem flying the aircraft and with the crews until I do. The crews enjoy what they do and I've never sat next to someone who came to work with the "I hate my job" mentality. I've worked at places like that before and this was a nice change of pace.

So take it for what it's worth and what others have to say, but Compass is a company you can work for and enjoy the time you're there...regardless of the "projected" future.

Not sure what AWAC schedules are like, but I had minimal reserve and will be bidding lines within 2 months of completing IOE.

AWAC is similar...NHs usually get their preferred base by the time they finish training 1-2 months on reserve at the moment.

AWAC does need to find new flying but just trying to reset perceptions that we are teetering on the precipice of collapse...far from it...but I am definitely not impuning Compass as a choice.
