That really is unfortunate they cancelled those vacations with as little as 20 days notice. I urge anyone impacted to read the CBA and submit any forfeited expenses accordingly.

Sadly, this decision to achieve short-term results will likely drag Compass further behind long-term staffing needs due to the negativity that will come with it and a backlog of rescheduled vacations.

To reverse the staffing trend at this point is improvable given our average monthly attrition, recent ULCC contract improvements, Regional competition, the applicant pool, and internal factors related to Compass.

There’s a little wiggle room on the CA side today but due to the FO shortage and the current throttling of upgrades to roughly 50% of CA attrition, we’ll be seeing zero reserve days, critical emails, cancelled vacations, and perpetual raised floor across all positions in all bases by late-summer. Welcome to the new-normal.

Today’s news is a huge red flag for me and will undoubtedly impact my thoughts on staying at Compass and waiting for THE call or accepting an immediate position with an ULCC as an alternative path.

Personal source. Not forum. Friends from way back. That's all I'm saying.

Personally though if this rumor is true I think it should make us more desirable to new hires. It means we have some job security beyond our carrier contracts expiring. It also means if you get in now you can lock in a west coast base before merging seniority lists. Plus we can ditch Lido and Lufthansa software. I would love to go back to Jepp and Flica. My one concern would be losing ALPA.

IF...

Personally, I wouldn't mind. Say what you will about RAH, but they know how to run a regional.

At this point I'd rather merge with RAH... my upgrade is going to be 2.5 years at the very least it seems. RAH is approaching that anyways. I would also get to end my coast-to-coast commute. With the long upgrade, cancelling of vacations, 85 hour lines, junior manning, min days off...why even commute the distance anymore?

Envoy is accepting direct entry captains. I mean yeah I would be on RSV forever in New York but at least I will stay in my own timezone...

The continued cancelling of vacations and throttled upgrades really killed any moral I had left. I am sure I am not the only 1.5-2 year FO that feels the same either.

If Republic purchased Compass there would be no “merger” it would be an acquisition and a staple job...Section 1 wouldn’t matter

Oh I'm sure there would be SOME integration. Nobody wins with an sli, though. Of course it's all hypothetical right now.

Integration doesn’t happen if another company purchases you, they can do whatever they want...including shut you down...see Colgan...the SLI occurred there because all carriers were ALPA. It would be to there benefit for morale purposes to integrate, but I guarantee you there union would fight tooth and nail for a staple job

How quick does merging seniority lists usually take with a merger? As someone who’s starting here in June, I’m hopefull I can get to LAX, before any merging of seniority lists (if that even happens).

I'm with you man. I don't commute from the coast, instead I moved. Every month I consider leaving to go closer to home but the upgrade just dangles right above me. Keep me updated with what you decide to do because I may do the same.

IF THIS ISN'T JUST SMOKE...it would still take a few months to go through the paperwork. You would probably be fine.

"Among the key provisions in U.S. antitrust law is one designed to prevent anticompetitive mergers or acquisitions. Under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, the FTC and the Department of Justice review most of the proposed transactions that affect commerce in the United States and are over a certain size, and either agency can take legal action to block deals that it believes would “substantially lessen competition.” Although there are some exemptions, for the most part current law requires companies to report any deal that is valued at more than $84.4 million to the agencies so they can be reviewed."
