Default Shortage of pilots in corporate realm?

Well- the thread title needs little explanation but with the shortage in the regional world (sucking up pilots with a wet-inked commercial multi) and with soo many corporate jets on order, how does things look (hiring wise) on the corporate side? I have always thought the job would be great and a big difference from the 121 world but even with a good connection -being without any jet experience had me on the outside looking in. What do yall think? With ATP mins and at least 500 Jet SIC is there a chance to get into the corporate side (in the right seat at least)? I know insurance runs the show but somebody has to fly the planes! I am currently at a 121 regional flying an RJ and am just thinking about the next step (whenever that may come, currently waiting to upgrade and get the magic 1000jet PIC)... but a corporate job would be nice...

If you are not too picky where you end up geographically and also not too picky about what equipment you end up in, you should be able to find a SIC position in corporate somewhere. It's such a dynamic and diverse field, that it's hard to say where to look, but the coasts are always a pretty good bet. Another good bet is to start out finding a 135 position flying executive/pax charter and working at that for a couple of years while trying to build corporate contacts.

Also, I can't really say that I hear much in the way of shortages of pilots in the corporate sector. What I do hear frequently, though, is that many departments tend to run lean on pilots - a department that could really use 6 pilots is running with 4, for instance. Many places take advantage of contract pilots to help staff the busy times so they are not overstaffed during the lulls.
