Ok this is totally what I think I would do (I know me). But I'm wondering what you pilots think.
If I were flying for a cool company that I liked such as coke, union pacific, GE ect. I would be VERY interested in learning what the people (that I'm flying around) do for that company. I would think that I would want a job working with them not as a pilot, but as one of thier executives.
I would really love to be a pilot and fly for a great company but I'm affraid of "the grass is always greener" thing. Or almost a jealous feeling??? I really don't know how it will be up there that why I'm asking.
How do you guys feel about the people you fly around or what have you experienced?

My experience is more limited, but I've enjoyed parts of the trips. We don't have any executives, but we charter some of the leaders of the state university system as well as university coaches and administrators, like the president. It's always nice to talk if you have a chance, but you have to remember that as a professional, your job is to fly the plane and give the pax a good ride.

In addition to my company's employees and execs, I regularly carry the executives and board members of my company's parent company, which is a very large international corporation (multi-billions cash flow).
I can tell you right off, I'd much rather have my job than the jobs of many of the people that I travel. Many of them are constantly on the move and away from home (often a lot more than myself). In addition, they are always tied to a phone or doing business or planning, or whatever. In addition to their corporate duties, several of them sit on/in various other boards, associations, councils, and leadership roles. When they aren't on the road, they're often putting in 6 day weeks and 12 hour workdays, sitting behind a desk in an office with a view have as enjoyable as mine.
I've certainly interacted with some of them, and many of them now know me by name and enjoy the flights, but I certainly don't think that their grass is any greener than my own... except when it comes to their paycheck.
The flip side of it is that I dont have near as much grey hair as any of them do...

Not sure if this relates or not, but a wise old chief pilot once told me, "We could do their jobs for an entire day and not cause much harm, but they couldn't do our jobs for a minute without doing some serious damage".
Having said that, I really don't have much interest in doing their jobs, but I have a lot of respect for what got them there. The passengers that I get along with the best are the ones that feel the same way about me.
