Default Eclipse Jet Pilot pay??

How much would it cost an employer to hire a pilot to fly one of these bad boys. Im still getting all the details on how often and all that kinda junk, but i heard it may be flying 5 days a week for a medical company.

For a private company, it would probably be in the mid 60k's, but you will have difficulty retaining your pilots since they can earn significantly more money by leaving to fly bigger airplanes at other companies.
If you want to avoid constant turnover and the expense of continual training, you should pay a little more.

IMO, that will be the downfall of VLJ's. It's a high performance high altitude jet from an insurer's perspective and premiums would be prohibitive to put a low time pilot at the helm. The jet's don't haul enough payload to produce the yield needed for an air taxi to pay experienced crews expected rates.

Certainly there will be exceptions (the shoulder of the bell curve) but I'm interested to see how the VLJ fleet worldwide deals with this apparent disconnect.

$250,000/mo.

Imaginary jets deserve imaginary pay scales.

Yeah thanks for the serious answer.

I would like to agree, but most of the new VLJ's are designed to be so automated that anybody can fly them with minimal airplane specific training. Thoughts of hundreds of doctors flying VLJ's, blowing through their assigned altitude and racking up FAA violations in the thousands will probably never happen since the technology on these planes is virtually "idiot proof".

I'm intrigued, what technology is that?

Even the best autopilot is only as good as the idiot behind it..

I hate when people/companies try to idiot proof anything. They just end up building better idiots.

That's the same thing they said about the Cirrus, didn't stop people from nose diving them into the ground or flying into apartments. Doctor killers. They're all designed for people with great big check books and ity-bity log books.
