Daily Pilot Rates
#1
I am currently flying for another entity, but was approached by the owner of a PC12 asking me to give a daily rate for flying. While, I plan to hang on to my current job (salaried), I was wondering what a competitive day rate would be. I don't want to price myself out of a job, but I would like to pick up some cash on the side. Any suggestions?

400-500 a Day is a fair rate.
Whatever you do, do not settle for less than 400.
Also, you may consider letting your current employer know that you are moonlighting. Some employers have different viewpoints about flying on the side.

Check insurance requirements as well, especially for a non-type required aircraft. Sucks when something unexpected happens and the insurance company decides to subrogate against the "independent contractor" not covered by the company policy.
