Default Contract Pay

I am changing from full time to contract Lear 45 SIC. I have been in the airplane for 2 years and have about 800 hours in the 45 and 2900 total time making just under 40k. I work for a charter company and the plane that I have been flying is for just the owner. Since I am departing I asked if I could contract fly for this company and they came back with an offer of $200 per day + expenses. Am I missing something or is this company low balling me?

Don't know what all "expenses" include, but the $200 is a little low.
$300 a day is a fair amount + expenses, and make sure that if you overnight somewhere for a few days you get paid the same rate.

If you are a contract pilot, then you set the price. You are independant. I'm sick of these companies/owners setting my contract price.

I was making $250 a day in the right seat of the King Air 5 years ago. $200 for the lear is lowball.

Tell them what your rate is.

As I said in the other thread, YES it is low.

$350 at the bare minimum, $400 is more the "standard" for a light jet SIC these days.

If you are typed in the LR45, ( not just sic typed) then the going rate is $600-800 per day no matter what seat you are sitting in. Plus, all expenses, and all means all.
If you do it for less you are not doing anyone any favors.

Have fun.

I have made a counter proposal to the company and I am waiting for the reply. Thanks for the information and by the way I am not PIC typed but have been to Flight Safety for SIC.
