Man Herc,

I'm sorry to hear that. Just from reading this forum it seems this industry has kicked you in the chicklets more times then I can count. Good Luck.

I'd keep working... if you walk away then you've just shot yourself in the foot. Seperate on good terms. I'm always surprised by just who my boss knows, and if I burn that bridge I maybe in more trouble than I think.
Besides you may get a week or two of pay checks until the plane sells.

always be the better person.

I keep waiting to this very thing to happen to me.

I get laid off today but I have known it was coming for quite some time. I found out about our airplanes being for sale pretty much the same way. I'd definatly stay until the end because given the market, airplanes aren't exactly in demand. Our Lears haven't sold and they have been listed for well over a year.

This sounds similar to what happened to me. I was waiting at home to get info on our weekly trip with a famous, country music star who was on tour. I kept getting yanked around by the dispatcher on the departure time. He finally said "we sold the plane, we'll call you when we need you." That was 4 years ago, and I haven't flown since. I had just taken a 135 check ride in the plane 2 weeks before! I kind of feel like I was on the leading edge of all the current layoffs. Hopefully, me not finding a flying job for 4 years isn't foreshadowing the future of aviation. I just saw an article about how more planes are being parked in the desert now than after 9/11.

I had one owner do that to me, it was not appreciated one bit. The captain at that time told him where he could shove the airplane and left. That was years ago during the 02-04 crunch. Now I've got some charter customers waiting in the wings for aircraft prices to hit rock bottom. Many predict that won't be until very late 09 to mid 10, but I figure when it does you'll want to be prepared and current.

Yea, I just got my medical updated a couple of weeks ago, and I am about to start flying again to get IFR current. I am at my "fall back job" and didn't expect to be here this long. You blink, and 4 years go by.
