Default WalMart Learjet Makes Emergency Landing

Curious if WalMart pays its pilots the same way it pays a greeter, for example.

A more technical question is whether fire is always inevitable when the front landing gear locks up?

From Associated Press:

A Learjet made an emergency landing this morning at Boeing Field in Seattle, and the front landing gear locked up and caught fire.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus told KCPQ that firefighters extinguished the flames with foam, and the pilot escaped without injuries.

The Learjet 45, registered to Wal-Mart, had taken off for Anchorage. It immediately returned when the pilot was unable to retract the front landing gear.

I think the key to your answer is the quality of research and technical understanding by the reporter. I'm skeptical of the AP report as written.

The local news reports that the crash crews could see the nose wheel wasn't straight on approach. So I'm guessing wheel peels off and the rim grinds down with sparks and smoke.

What, your plane doesn't have nose brakes?
