Now that GM has gone public again does anyone think that they will ramp up their flight department again. It is sad to taxi by their empty facility in DTW

For heaven's sake I doubt it after that fiasco with negative public relations in 2008. It may not have been deserved, but negative PR is something that has to be carefully avoided. If they bring back the jets at all, I would guess they will be one of the last big corporations to do it and even then it would seem a good idea to be discreet until other companies come back first.

Agreed, and those negative campaigns by our "friends" in congress cost me my former job as well.

I just wish the chiefs at GM and Ford had some ballz when they were asked "how did you get here today?"...

My response would have been- "THE SAME WAY YOU DID SENATOR, EXCEPT I AM NOT ON TAXPAYER'S DOLLARS."

Sorry to the mods if "ballz" is too extreme.

That sounds like trying to tell them use of personal aircraft is not responsible spending. Probably not the best thing to shout out.

Actually they were tooling around last week, touting today's GM IPO.

Why not, when that is *exactly* what the committee was trying to show with the CEO's of GM and Ford?

It is not trying to say that it is not "responsible", it is saying they are being quite hypocritical! And they were! BTW, have you ever heard the recording of Pelosi's assistant having a cow because the GV wasn't available!? Unreal.

Most who were laid off just wish those morons had the BRAINZ to not come in their own GVs to beg for taxpayer money.

Even the banks took the train/airlines and left the jets in the hangar to go toy with the fools Frank (D-MASS) and Ackerman (D-NY)

The Chairman of GM did just fine when he lost his job, not sure about the 20+ pilots who had to go look for work (in Michigan of all places)

Yes, I'm aware of Pelosi's demands concerning DoD aircraft. And why she was accommodated to such a degree.. I just don't know.

But, I do think THAT hearing would NOT have been the proper forum for the pot to stand up and call the kettle black. I don't think it would have been helpful to corporate aviation at all.

Just my opinion.

And you are entitled to it...

But I think standing up and calling the kettle black would have been a better response than the alternative... which is what they gave... and now we are here, and it is not pretty.. so I am confused as to what you think is "helpful" for biz-av.

But whatever... I think most people would agree with me. Next topic.

Guys, please cool it with overtly political comments or this thread will spiral to a close.
