Paying for school
I am now in the first steps of starting private pilot school and was wondering how most of you pay for your schooling?? I heard it can cost a ton. Do you guys have any advise when I should obtain financial aid?

This really depends on how old you are and where you are in life. If you are still in high school, I would say pay by the hour. That way you don't start a debt. But if you're in the college years, yes a loan will allow you to blaze through. Be very careful, plan on approx 5 yrs before you start to see the reasonable money.
Also look into federal grants and loans, but you'll have to go through a college for those.

Get it all done at once. Get your training done quickly without delay. Just make sure that this is really the path that you want. Ride along on a trip, talk to a lot of pilots, make sure it is worth the investment.

Use community colleges for the PPL ground school, then pay by the hour for the private at a local FBO. Paying for these 2-3 week get your Instr rating after that can be pretty effective. There are always schools out there offering quick programs for add-on ratings. Once you get enough to fly commercially, get your CFI or start flying banners. The quicker you get your mins the better.
