St Maarten
#1
I have a potential trip coming up this summer to St Maarten in a KA90 Blackhawk engines... Just wondering if anybody has done the trip in a King Air, I'm sure a bunch of you have.. I've been to the Bahamas several times but I haven't been that far south. I am interested in any pointers you might have, suggestions on a mid way fuel stop? Thanks

The S. FL-TNCM flight is quite easy and full of diversion/tech stop locales. Use Landmark KTMB for a dept point. I would stear clear of FLL now. They are operating on 1 runway now and are prone to delays. TMB has great facilities, customs and a tower.
Provo is good but fairly pricey. Tread lightly or research Grand Turk. They have had no fuel at times.
There is only one area that will be "overwater". The stretch from GTK-DDP along RTE6 is the only area where you won't see land for a few minutes if your down in the mid 20's.
Once you get down to the TNCM area, they will use flight levels down low. It catches you off guard the first time you hear "descend to FL050." Enjoy the scenery! Great approach.

What all the guys/gals above have said. Provo has always provided us fairly quick turns, but they are a bit pricey, and at times, could take you a few minutes to get out due to 1 runway and needing to back taxi. That being said, I suggest what everyone already has. I'd stop either OPF or TMB and then go to TNCM from there. Beautiful flight!

I have done the area hundreds of times but on the Jet Airways. I think though MIA CTR and SJU CTR have radar coverage on the Victor Airways. Like the other guys said lots of fuel and tech stops along the way and beautiful scenery along the way. Happy Motoring!!!
