From 121 to 135?
I am currently an FO and fly an RJ for a 121 carrier out of LGA. I live locally (30 mins away) and could potentially have a job offer to fly a Hawker 800XP out of TEB. Starting salary would be 65k and the flying would be done under 135/91. They currently have 3 hawkers, a GIV, and king air 350. As far as I know so far there are no contracts to be signed and they will pay to send me to Flightsafety for training. I was told it would be about 400hrs a year. I am a college grad and got hired for a 121 carrier right out of school. I have never flown corporate, therefore I am a little apprehensive about making the change.
I have a little less than 2yrs seniority and am 23yrs old. Right now I am looking at another 4-5years to upgrade to a saab making less money than offered, and potientially having to commute to DFW or LAX. I'm looking for some opinions out there about making the change because I can't make the decision myself. Thanks!

Try to talk to some pilots at the 135. If it's a well thought of company, I say go for it. A good 135 company can be fun to work for and can lead in all kinds of directions. You've put in some 121 time, so you'll have that going for you if you still want to try for the majors down the road.

flying is flying.. most ppl that go from airlines to corporate enjoy it but its not for everyone.. talk to others that are flying corporate and see if its something you would enjoy.. I was looking to do some regional flying but i really enjoy what i do. More importantly how is the QOl there. Are the pilots happy there and hows the turnover rate for fo s. Good luck with the decision the hawker is a good plane
