G650 Drivers

The boss is set to trade in for a G650 soon. At least that what he says. We will believe it when we pick it up! But any who....

Looking for info from guys currently on the airframe for their pros and cons. I have spoken to guys on the road and they have mixed feelings about the aircraft.

Pros:
- FAST
- Huge wing will save you on a shuttle approach
- Trailing link gear
- Bigger paycheck

Cons
- annoying and time-consuming preflight checks
- less automation (coming from a previous Global crew who said he likes the Global better)
- 14 hr endurance

Any other operational thoughts are appreciated.

Get your Boss to sit in the cabin, I understand from operators the seats leave something to be desired. Mostly, that the large windows dictated a lower seat bottom. There's 4 or 5 on the used markets due to dissatisfied buyers.

Ditto this and other issues.

Have you actually talked to operators running G650s?

Your PROS are applicable to any larger plane today (Gxxx, Global, 7X, etc)

Areas to look into - Dispatch reliability, CES, Phones, FBW faults, interior/paint sub-standard.

Amazing that someone can drop tens of millions without sitting in the freakin seats to see if they liked them.

I've talked to only two crews that currently operate the plane. Thats why I wanted to reach out to others here.
Thanks!

Besides a "new concept", what real-world advantages does a factory new G650 give versus factory new G550 ?

How much range does someone really need ?

The G550 is battle and field proven. If I was a zillionaire I would probably go G550

A friend that went from a Global to the G650 says check landing perf if you will use short runways. The GX, from his experience, will comfortably use runways that are a bit dicey in the G6. Also, you can't use KASE, yet.

His crews are skeptical right now. It will burn 4,000# less fuel on an Atlantic crosssing than a G8, so there's that.

KASE is not a worry for us as we would take another one our airframes in there.

The boss went through the 550 and 650 at the NBAA show recently.
He said there is no comparison. The 650 was significantly better than the 550.
Height of entrance, cabin height and width, interior quality, shower, galley options, etc.

All I want to know is the thing gonna have great dispatch reliability and easy to fix when it breaks.

It has a shower?

Walmart parked theirs in the rain somewhere in Asia. They flew it to Alaska and by the time they got there the door had frozen shut and they couldn't get it open. Comedy ensued.
