We are adding another Citation VII to our small "fleet" and the few airframes we have it narrowed down to have the Honeywell boxes installed in them. Our other two 650's have Universal UNS boxes and our crews are familiar with the Universal's only

Are the Honeywell's that much better than the UNS boxes that we should keep them? We would upgrade them with WAAS if we keep them and as well would do the same and install WAAS Universal boxes. Anyone with experience in both??

I have flown with both boxes. Hands down the Universal is the better product. Upgrade to the WAAS and don't look back.

Had the universals in my 650. Went all out with the waas too. Nothing better out there imo. Well worth the money to upgrade if you can swing it.

Sounds good guys thanks for the info!! Do any of you know is there a way to couple the auto pilot/flight director VNAV on an RNAV approach??

We were able on the Excel i flew before but not on the 650's with same box? Im sure all it takes is money?!?!

To my knowledge there is no VNAV function to the autopilot. That is its problem.

Another vote for the Universal over the Honeywell.

Sorry, no experience in both FMS systems, but I have flown Universal in the past with other planes, and currently fly a plane with a Universal box. Many of the folks I fly with used to fly Honeywell boxes and I have not heard a single person say they prefer HW over Univ. FWIW.
