Default Walmart Corporate Pilot

I am a college student about to graduate with a professional pilot degree and have been really interested in being a corporate pilot. I live in the northwest Arkansas area "home of walmart." I've grown up seeing all their learjets out side their hangars and it has always been a little mini dream of mine to fly corporate right next to my home. I'm looking for people who have flown for them or are currently flying for them to get a little back ground info. But any advise helps, thank you for your time.

I'd go in and talk to the Chief Pilot, ask him what you need in your resume for him to consider you for an opening in the future. Then keep going back as you continue to improve your resume, a lot, but not so much that they see you as a pest.

GalaxyFlyer used to work for them; if I remember right, he hated it. They work you to the bone with not enough salary to compensate for your duties. You do non-flying duties at the destinations, not related to the flight department. If I were you, I would try getting on with Tyson instead. Bigger equipment, less work, similar pay. Perhaps GF could chime in, though.

They have increased the pay significantly in the past few years. From what I have heard, a Lear 45 Captain is making around $150K a year.

I'd be very surprised if their Lear guys were pulling down anywhere near 150K. Now some of the more senior Global guys, possibly. It's NW AR. Zap Brannigan worked for them in the past. They did recently raise rates, however the previous rates were woefully low......even for the area. Best of luck to the OP.

I would also ask him if there is potential for the pilots to be unionized.

I have a friend at Tyson who is flying a heck of a lot more than Walmart.

I am pretty sure 150 are the new rates for Lear Captains.

The new 10 year Lear Captain compensation at WalMart - including bonuses and stock - is around 200k. They also added more scheduled days off and made some other adjustments in an effort to retain pilots.
