Hydroxychloroquine
Any chance DAL will pay for this for all of us “essential” workers?

Lol.
We can’t even get masks and mini-hand sanitizers. |
India just stopped all exports of hydroxychloroquine.

No. It has never been actually tested for COVID-19. The only information they have is correlation. South Korea had some success with it, there were multiple treatments given at once. Also the recovery time has been anywhere from 4 days to 14 days without it, so it is really hard to determine how effective it really is. But since it doesn't seem to harm patients, every doctor who has access to it will use it. That means there is (and will always be) a shortage.
And since it will not prevent COVID-19, there is no need for pilots to use it. If they are sick, they shouldn't be at work and Delta does not really care if it takes you 14 days to recover without hydroxychloroquine or 10 days to recover with it. Right now we have lots of pilots, so there really isn't a need for Delta to reduce the amount of pilots on sick leave. But let's imagine that there is a drug that is actually proven effective. Contrary to what many on here think, airline pilots are on the bottom of the list of people who will get access to it. It would be reserved for patients in serious condition and/or medical staff. |
You want that from the company that told us all u need to fly into malarial zones was a yellow fever shot??

Another great zinger, Bob! Spot on

Reports in Utah from physicians prescribing it and whoever is running things in pharmacy world are denying it for this legal “off label” use.
There’s not enough to go around. Your Delta pilot status doesn’t make you rich enough, famous enough, or connected enough to get this stuff. Whether it works or not. Not enough inventory in US to cover 1% of US population. (maybe if you prevaricate about flying to a malaria zone (DR?) and are experiencing “symptoms” HINT HINT) |
Several weeks ago, I got 60 day supply of it by telling my doctor I was a pilot, and needed it. In fact, that's what its purpose was before all this started. Now in case my parents need it, I have it.
I'm well aware of the QT interval prolongation, and side effects. |

It's laughable that people are tripping over themselves to grab a drug that has very shaky evidence of its efficacy. Meanwhile robbing the stockpiles to those who actually need it.
Mark my words. Trump has invested heavily in HCQ manufacturers. And you all are suckers for buying up a drug that doesn't work against COVID-19. |
