So from my data the article seems correct.
Be careful, a lot of common cold viruses are other corona viruses, which can cause you to show 'positive' on an antibody test, even though you haven't had THE corona virus. As far as I know, nobody knows if having antibodies from a lesser coronavirus would help with immunity to COVID19 (you'd think that'd be a great thing to research...), but that's why health officials aren't overly excited about the antibody tests, even thought they tend to be faster, easier, and cheaper to administer.

Yup. Definitive testing will probably evolve to mean tests for multiple specific markers.

From the article:

“To be sure, asymptomatic and presymptomatic spread of the virus appears to still be happening, Van Kerkhove said but remains rare. That finding has important implications for how to screen for the virus and limit its spread.”
There’s plenty of cases of significant others transmitting it to their partners before they had symptoms. Not sure I buy that part of the article. But for those that are asymptomatic not transmitting it, thats probably more believable. Also it did say it’s all preliminary. There were articles a few weeks ago that said like 50% of the virus is transmitted by asymptomatic people. Hopefully this new study is all true but assuming anything now is pointless.

Well, the WHO just walked back their assertion about asymptomatic transmission being very rare. That didn't take long...

now its "asymptomatic spread is a “really complex question” and much is still unknown. “We don’t actually have that answer yet,” she said."

I'm glad they're admitting when they're wrong, but seriously a 1 day flip flop? Its like they're trying to lose credibility. If they weren't sure they shouldn't have said anything.

I got a feeling it's more about the backlash they received from certain groups that would look really stupid if the asymptomatic spread rarity was true..

Say, most govts, who would then face the harsh reality of a society that would blame them for shutting down their livelihoods

or perhaps they think that by changing their opinion every 24 hours it guarantees they will be right half of the time, which would at least be an improvement.

Their backflip was because people will take anything out of context. Asymptomatic spread is very rare as just about everyone shows some sign of symptom during the virus, might be super minor but still some symptoms.
