This logic could easily be reversed to be used against airlines who chose stock buybacks over rainy day funds.
The fact of the matter is that in an emergency, you choose your battles. When entire industries are at risk, or the health of a nation is in jeopardy, you get off your high horse and you start helping with everyone else. And in that great assistance, help may be provided to people or corporations you personally feel don't deserve it.
But the overall good outweighs any bad.

And that’s the problem. A friend of mine’s family friend was killed in a car accident....T-boned by a drunk driver. Somehow, tested positive during autopsy(?) for Covid-19. Car crash with drunk driver wasn’t the cause of death, Covid-19 was. Hospitals are incentivized financially for Covid deaths, so we will never know what the real numbers are. I wouldn’t put too much faith in any numbers the media are reporting. I believe this virus is real and unfortunately is killing people, but we will never truly know how deadly it really is.

I could see some form of respiratory or cardiac failure being stretched to C19. But a criminal fatal trauma? No chance. There isn’t a medical examiner who would risk his or her career (and medical license) just to help pad the county’s coffers—especially when the results are going to be scrutinized in a vehicular manslaughter investigation. The prosecutor would be ALL over this, and would have the ME’s balls in a specimen jar.

Agreed. Short of it being a genuine clerical error, I call BS. It’s always ‘a friend of a family friend’s friend’s friend’ too.

She does say they need to correct for it, but so far I have yet to see any evidence that they’ve actually adjusted their numbers. Still seems to be common practice in a lot of states. Fortunately, Colorado corrected their numbers and magically they dropped by 25%. I guess it must be a conspiracy theory since the source is the very people in charge of counting the deaths.

Heres Washington state correcting also. Suicides, homicides, and overdoses were originally counted. So who knows how many numbers are still counted from accidents and natural causes.

The officials in charge are admitting they’re doing this. Must be a conspiracy.
