Its always so delicious to see people whine and complain about how airlines have destroyed the experience of flying and that they should go out of business. These people have no clue how affordable and accessible air travel is compared to many years ago. It genuinely makes them seem foolish.

Payroll support was always a bad idea. Sure the airlines require immediate assistance and likely it will be forthcoming but keeping highly compensated employees around doing nothing just prolongs the agony of realistic Rightsizing the labour force. Walt Disney Company fires 28,000 employees from their parks and resorts. And, readjusts its executives' salaries to pre-pandemic levels. This is called action, and although it is painful it is the right decision to Rightsize the company to current market forces. Airlines will likely get more aid and support but it should be help in paying for non-utilised aircraft, and other additional costs that are occurring as they hemmorage cash not on keeping a wholly unrealistic labor force around. Even if this does pass, we will be having this same argument next March in 6 months time. It’s time to face reality and the airlines need to shape their fleets and labour to a realistic Free Economy demand.

So we could either pay them unemployment or we could just pay their wages at their job, helping the airlines and keeping their employees around if a turn around begins. Quite possibly cost neutral to the govt.
I know it hurts to think about but it's not always just about pilots.

The only "highly compensated" employees are pilots and they are only a fraction of the actual furlough numbers. The vast majority of furloughed airline employees are AT BEST modest earners and I'm sure a very very high percentage of them are living paycheck to paycheck.
So we could either pay them unemployment or we could just pay their wages at their job, helping the airlines and keeping their employees around if a turn around begins. Quite possibly cost neutral to the govt.

Hell, maybe it *is* a perl script. That bug that spits out a period at the beginning of each post is still there. Even its programmer sucks!

LOL - if you were a better troll, or maybe put at least an ounce of effort into making an intelligent post, maybe I’d give you a real response. But so far you haven’t said anything that couldn’t be produced by a crappy 5 minute perl script.
