Maybe more through luck than design, the F35 actually turned out to be a pretty hot ticket.
Because they didn't know what the state of the art would look like in the future, they designed it to be flexible vis a vis radar/EW, basically a giant flying software-defined-radio/router.
Well the future is here now, and it turns out it's flexible EM spectrum capabilities are really relevant, and considered a big game-changer by war planners. Overshadows, in a huge way, it's BFM capabilities.

I’m speaking out of ignorance and sarcasm, But has been spent in much worse ways than direct stimulus aid. Cool machine, but I Wonder if money spent on pandemic preparation could be reallocated from future defense budgets to both save American lives and the future economy.

Actually, that may just be The Mouse, putting pressure on California governor Gavin Newsom who has been stringing them along a week or so at a time. Apparently, they decided to start upping the heat on the guy...
UPDATED with latest: After a group of 18 California senators and assemblymembers issued a letter on Monday asking Governor Gavin Newsom to issue guidelines for theme parks to reopen, the state’s top health official addressed the matter.
Asked when guidance for theme parks would be released, Dr. Mark Ghaly said, “We’re working hard to get that out in a responsible way as soon as possible. We’re working with those industries to put out something that’s thoughtful…to ensure those activities are done responsibly.”
Unlike most other industries, there is no path to reopening.
