Several guys in my group brought one of their parents instead of their wives. I know other people asked to bring their "girlfriends" and were denied.

Remember, this night is for YOU...unless Delta doesn't trust your judgement about who should be by your side.

Next to sermons during indoc about cell phone use and good-listener etiquette, discussions overheard about indoc dinner guests were some of the more awkward I've heard as a grown man.

Just to be fair and to follow up on my previous post, the ESC finally approved my girlfriend as my Domestic Partner. The hurdle was substantiating living together for 6+ months. Was a bit of a toughie since we don't have our own place and live with others.

But I did fly her down as my Travel Companion for $80, and it was a great time. I wouldn't discourage anyone from making the effort to bring someone to the dinner just because they gotta fly standby. It helps, too, if you have a prior airline background and s/he is well versed in space available travel

Think about what you're saying for all of two seconds. Any good parent is not going to ask, nor accept, advice on sitters from a completely anonymous web board for pilots. Notice he hasn't been asking for sitter advice. That tells me he either doesn't want the advice or it won't be option for him.

If he really wants to go and take his wife, he'll find a way.

I knew some drank the kool aid, but getting drunk on it, wow. And you'll go through all this so she can ask for 1/2 in about 10 years.....
Enjoy.
