So theoretically you could have just trained in another plane a few months ago and had a training freeze. You then go to the A350 and get get out of that since it is a new 2 year freeze on the next AE. (Or is it a 1 year freeze if you're already on the Airbus?). Then when the C-Series comes out in the Fall AE you could bid off that freeze and get a 2 year freeze for the new category there. Then...a couple months into that decide to get a your first Captain bid and get out that freeze to go be a new Captain?
I knew a guy who wanted to go to the ATL 73N before his freeze on the ATL M88 was up. He bid 73N in SEA when it opened as a new category, then on the very next AE he bid back to ATL 73N. Never did spend any time in SEA. |

I would never want that much training time in ATL. Or would you even go to training if the training was scheduled after you got the AE awards?
Wanna make it more entertaining? After you get that initial Captain bid (let's say B717A) and get your 24 month+ category freeze, the company decides to open up a NYC350 category so you get an AE to that and subsequently shed the 24+ month Captain freeze and, depending on how much time passed from your initial A350 training, you might get a short course that only generates a 12 month freeze. In the end, wayyyy too much time on Virginia Ave but it could be done. |
For those that care our second 350 is assembled and has the tail painted. I'm not that smart otherwise I would have figured out how to post a pic
