I can pretty quickly scan the category & staffing lists and AE awards to figure where I would sit. Then again I don't plan on leaving my base, even then I would only leave for a few categories. It's a great site and I don't blame him for charging. If I had no idea what base/cateogry I wanted, then I'd drop the cash in a heartbeat, but probably only for quick snapshot...not an on going subscription. It would save lots of time and effort and that cash is a drop in the bucket. |

Or you could avail yourself of several sources, the sum total cost of which wouldn't buy a good dinner. But that's just the author's opinion. ;) It's okay if you want to charge for it. It was a nice tool that I looked at. Thanks for offering it for free for those months you did. J. Bell's analysis is awesome, free, and just didn't get the word out like your site; especially since it's Excel based and not truly web based. I'll respectfully skip the subscription. I've been an addict of J. Bell's analysis since way back; especially the summary of movement by seat that he produces within a day or two of AE awards. |

Much more useful information and free. The graphs are a nice depiction of things. Also, the fastest and cheapest way to get any of this information is to just take a two minute glance at the Projected Categories .pdf from the crew resources tab. I don't understand why these websites even exist. You just look at a category and can say "looks like I'd be 50% in that seat." Done. :confused: |
Pretty interesting how 3 months ago when he migrated over to the new widgetseniority.com website his reason was that he had received too many complaints from people about others spying on their seniority number. I thought that was odd as it is all information any of us could gather the hard way if we really wanted to. Now it becomes quite apparent that the whole move to the new website and account creation system was necessary as part of the larger strategy to create a revenue generation feature.
How very 'old guard' of him. To me as a fairly new guy this seniority tracking tool was the one thing that gave Curly some credibility. I didn't agree with most of his statements on the facebook page, but I figured he was a well intentioned individual underneath it all. Now that he has decided to make his tool exclusive just before the MOAB it is clear that Curly is not simply donating his services to the pilot group, there is no 'volunteer' spirit there. I guess that is fine as it is not a requirement for him to be generous to his coworkers but I certainly do not have the same opinion of him that I once did. |

Also, aren't there other 3rd party sites that most people use and pay for? Do they show as much hate toward those as they do this? |
Go back 15 years ago there was a pilot forum website that was free. Thousands of posts a day. Hundreds by the General Lee alone. Then they started charging for access, and people stopped going there. Killed the activity in that forum.
How long before the chit-chat charges? |
