Default Quick PBS questions

Just a quick one for PBS experts out there ... how do I tell PBS to not give me any more trips once I reach the window?

I remember it's something like "Avoid credit >0", but I don't remember where I put it. Do I put it as the last line once I put all my "Award if" requests?

Thanks for your help ... with the summer season and the worst DTW 320 bid package for locals that I can remember, I'd like to minimize the damage.

Default Set condition min credit

It's a bid condition when you start the bid of set condition min credit. That will tell pbs to stop adding credit as soon as it gets you in your bid window.

If min credit is allowed. During the run they tweak the threshold and number of min credit lines. Last summer my category had min credit lines set to 0 and threshold at the top of the LCW. Good luck if your ALV is 84:00.

Gotcha on the "set minimum credit" ... last summer I was denied every time I put that. But I thought there was another way that, if "minimum credit" was denied, you could still tell it to Stop! once your awards push you into the window - so it couldn't throw an extra 2 day in there just because you're legal.

Of course, I could very well be wrong - but I've heard it from a couple guys.

Thanks again.

You can do this but it is tricky. After you build your line put avoid credit > 0. There are a bunch of gotchas that I don't exactly remember so I would recommend calling Bid Assist. You obviously have to be in the LCW but I think there are other factors.

When I was very senior (top 5%) I used this all the time and it worked great. I have been burned a few types with request Min Credit and like you said this can be denied. If you are senior enough and do it correctly avoid trips > 0 will normally work.

You can avoid 1 day and avoid 2 day. That should avoid the pile on small trip once you're in the window

It really depends on your seniority. Avoid credit >0 works on the last line but if you aren't senior enough to avoid the shuffle it could backfire. Last June my category only had the top 12% unaffected by denial or the shuffle.

Clear Sked and Start Next works just as well as avoid > 0.

The key to all of this is that pbs will not deny an avoid (or CSSN) to reach the threshold - which is how the tackon trips typically happen.

A simplified example of how to bid a min Sked (assuming you have reasonable seniority)

ALV = 84

Award 4 day trips if ADC = 5:15, Limit 3 (qualify however else you want)

Award 3 day trip if ADC = 5:15, Limit 1

CSSN

That did group should give you a line in the min credit (lower half of LCW) and then stop.

Of course you have to have enough seniority to be reasonably sure to have the trips to build such a Sked. Then put a less restrictive bid in the next group just in case

Ok thanks, all. I think I understand but probably won't risk it this time around. I've never done the Clear Start Next thing and my top choices are 1- and 2-day. I do appreciate your help very much.
