They’ll disregard the instructions and build the world’s largest, fastest, and most expensive golf cart.

Trump made Economic Nationalism a huge part of his campaign and protectionist tariffs are one of the biggest weapons you can wield in that fight. This type of action should surprise no one.

Regardless of how much of the CSeries is US built, or how much of every Boeing is made overseas, or how much this will hurt Delta, in the minds of the masses “Boeing = USA” and this makes a great photo op at the rally undoubtedly coming soon to a certain non-unionized manufacturing plant in South Carolina.

Economic Nationalism isn't a fight these days, it's self-mutilation at best and suicide at worst.

Bombardier was just too obvious. No sales. Bailout by the government. Dump. Still no sales. Caught.

Btw this was a jet that required twisting arms to get Air Canada to order them. It might perform but that's not all that matters.

Not sure if Trump would want to be undercutting Brexit so I don't think a trade war was the desire on their part nor do I think the administration has that kind of control over beaurcrats. See cucked FBI for details.

This was just poor management since the launch of the program.

Boeing wud make this fight no matter who was in political office.

Business is a cutthroat environment.

And when a threat to the aircraft line that probably nearly entirely subsidizes your commercial aircraft division appears.....survival is the name of the game.

Now best guess, do we have CS100s on the line here 12 months from now?

As it stands now I say no.

I don’t disagree, but it is the policies and priorities of that person in office which determine how far that fight will go.

As had been said many times: elections have consequences.
