Sweet, so now define "funding".

Surplus 8GB iPad 2's or the new Pro?

My hope is cash allowance and a minimum requirement to be met for spec. Choose your own, download necessary apps and carry on.

I carry my laptop with me also (photographer also) so I'd looooove to have one device (iPad pro) to do it all on the road.

This ought to be interesting.

I don't think MS's bid has much of a chance of succeeding.....at least from what I've heard.

Bring back "bring your own iPad" now. The thing just gets worse with every update. The busy spinning wheel of life wasted indicator is my new screensaver......or is it just still busy???

The best option is BYOD(because privacy) with the new iPad pro with iOS 11. This is very very close to a complete laptop replacement.

Also, to gszg's point, we should have access to not only weather, but the performance, and dispatch functions that a tablet can do. There is no reason we should have to look at paper charts to find performance data, driftdown speeds, holding data, etc. We should also be able to do any manual weight, and balance calculations automatically on the iPad. All this stuff is currently available for GA years ago.

If you can reduce training to what it has become, with the FAA's blessing. Why can't you give us tools that have been available for years. Follow the money.

Stop making sense.

Please.

Just stop.

If true, I hope its a true competition of products and suitability. I don't think that happened with the Surface decision. Didn't we hear Mr Anderson thought Apple stuff was too expensive and weren't we a Microsoft corporate partner? And.. that was why we didn't get IPads in the first place? Now after 2 Surfaces and 2 funky mounts we are going to a hard mount.. and an IPad.. like should have been done day one.. OK, basic question to anyone who knows: Who gets a bonus for this equine excrement? OFG

What boggles the mind is that it took this long. Classic sunk-cost fallacy.

The downside of BYOD is it shifts the burden for ongoing hardware support to the pilot. I'd rather have the company carry that responsibility. Besides, what is to keep the company from treating the EFB like uniforms?
