The B747-400 Fleet leadership made it clear they would NOT circumvent seniority and "buy" the trip for their own personal notoriety.

It is the line pilots who do yeoman's work everyday going back and forth and it would be unfair to displace a senior pilot just so management could have their pictures taken.

I admire that in Delta's leadership and appreciate their response.

Regarding the "fourth" pilot being a no show... well don't always believe what you read.

They can buy any of my trips and pay me to stay home...I'll volunteer for that every time.

That's nice, unlike Capt. K saving New Orleans after Katrina.

Are you on the B747-400?

The ones that bid and can hold the rotations to fly the last revenue trip truly wanted to fly it. IMHO, to fly the last trip is significant for a multitude of reasons, especially for such an iconic aircraft.

I don't think it's fair for a management pilot who can't hold the trip, displace the assigned pilot just so they can do a "photo op".

The only true possession we have in this industry is seniority and any method to usurp it is unethical.

I support the B747-400 leadership and desire to let the real pilots fly their airplane with their seniority.

Good for them.
