I am largely computer illiterate, but here goes:
It was fast. Once the info was downloaded, there was no waiting for a screen to buffer.
It was self-contained. Unlike the web UI version, when you wanted to add or edit, you did it in a side bar. You could see what was going on beside it rather than having to go back and forth between different windows that could get confusing.
There were no crashes or websites locking. Yes, occasionally you had to download new software, but for bidding it was great.
I tried the web app once. Once. Never again until I am forced to do so. The lack of scrolling alone was maddening.
The web UI isn’t great, but compared to the web app, I’ll take the web UI every time without debate.

Yes. All this. Desktop app>NavBlue Web App>Old online interface. You could filter pairings and then sort them by check-in date, so if you were senior enough you could just go week-by-week and build your schedule. Last time I checked you could not sort filtered pairings by check-in date on NavBlue.

You can, but it was so much nicer to filter the pairings down to those with parameters you’d like to fly, then look at the first Monday of the month and see which ones fall on that day, then on to Tuesday, etc., rank-order those, then move to the next week. That made it so much easier to decide how to rank the trips on your bid. Even if you yourself never use that function, it makes no sense to leave it out of the “updated” program.

Since we each have different frequently-used filters, I'd like to be able to sort the filter list how I want it, with my dozen favorites or so on top. That'd minimize the scrolling to begin with.
