I was thinking the same thing, long term I can see ARCOS covering open time for reserves, as well other crew scheduling functions. Perhaps the plan is to further reduce the amount of crew schedulers on hand with supervisory positions looking over the computer functions. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I hate interfacing with a machine when calling places. I feel as though by the time I'm done listening to the rotation descriptions via ARCOS the 10 minutes will be up.

In theory, you might not get any of the trips. And you could be getting an alert at 1am, 2am, 3am, etc. True?

In theory, but if you look at your category, how many GS’s are given out at those hours. Of those, a portion are that late because 20-30 dudes with blanket GS in each got their 10 minutes, making the whole process drag on for hours and hours.

When a Irops hits ATL and you are in a category 767 and smaller your phones are going to ring all night long even if your based in DTW or NYC. It’s not unusual to have 5 plus days of trip coverage for a single category. Remember ARCOS will cover W/S’s also once fully implemented.

In large categories it is not uncommon to get calls "at those hours" when short staffed. In fact, it is very common.

Nope, just too many times trying to get a GS while waiting and waiting for skeds to go through the list and hoping they get to me before the last commuter flight out of town. The last GS I️ got I️ actually boarded the plane before the call came from skeds. My guess is that the majority of those on here up in arms live in base. Arcos will probably cost them GS’s...therefore the gnashing of teeth. I’m a commuter, I’m betting this helps me get more GS’s...therefore I’m looking forward to it. All depends on the lense you look through.

I'd much rather just have a straight cap above a certain threshold where GS pay kicks in (i.e. 85 hours and above pays double). I know I'm in the minority here because I think many prefer the existing system where they can easily get to there second/third green slip in the busy months. I've seen many commuters who can be in base with in just a few hours benefit from this just as much as pilots who live local.
