Default Green Slip Calls

So Ive noticed people getting green slips the day prior to the trip date. So if the day of trip is on the 15th and I want a GS, I say call me on the 15th for that trip right? Or should I put in PCS the 14th?

I don’t live in base, so on my GS I have a minimum notification of 012:00 to report. This has resulted in me getting offers the evening before for next day flying.

If I go in and I chance that to 002:00 notice, the offers go up significantly.

I'll admit that I dont know for sure, but your question wouldn't be related to that "award next day flying" drop down option, would it? That may only apply to WS/YS and swaps...

Why not just put it into the system as an open bid, if you get notified by ARCOS and you want to do it...accept it. If you don't want it, don't accept it.
If you want to avoid late night calls turn.... your phone off

No point in missing manna from heaven due to rules that have a possibility of misintrepretation

KISS....it's my mantra

"Enter all days for flying award" means just that. If you have a GS in starting on the 15th, they can call you on the 14th.

I would echo what others have said: If you don't live in base put a "Min time to report" qualifier in so you won't be bothered with nuisance calls for slips you can't realistically make.

my problem with min time to report is sometimes I can make it in 3 hours.....or, if they call me at 8pm for the next day my mine time to report might be 14 hours

If in a cat or junior and GS aren't flowing like a golden shower, you might not want to limit you very few opportunities with that niggling min time to report

The more I think about it, I think Plump has it right. I also don't live in base and put a 12 hour min report qualifier on most of GS preferences. And in the past, I have been called at dinner time for a brutally early report the next day.

A little off the thread title topic but I didn’t want to start yet another thread. I’m new and trying to understand some basics, and no source seems to give a straightforward explanation for new hires.

If all this is explained in another thread or elsewhere, please let me know and I shall quietly slink away.

1. Are all Green Slips now a proffer thanks to ARCOS? Scheduling Handbook says GS are not a proffer but I’m confused—are all green slips handled in ARCOS now or is there sometimes just an in-person call?

2. The option for “award next day flying on 0700 PCS run” can only be selected to yes. If awarded something on that run, are you notified and is it a proffer? Sched Handbook says WS and RS awarded at 0700 are not a proffer and no notification occurs, but I want to make sure that doesn’t apply to GS.

Trying not to get myself in trouble as I first dabble in the GS world... thanks!

You will never get a greenslip on by the computer on the day prior 0700 PCS run unless GSWC are happening regularly in your category. I hate to put a min report time during IROPS because I have seen trips that start with a deadhead to an airport I can drive to. You can put all kinds of limitations on GS like report after.....
